Some facts that are in accordance with the above:
In 2001:
- Philips sold its mobile phone production to China Electronics Corp.
- Ericsson teamed up with Japan's Sony Corp. - Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications.
In 2005:
- Alcatel sold its mobile phone business to China's TCL Corp.
- Nokia is now the last big European player still standing on the cell phone market.
Currently Nokia is at 31 percent, Motorola Inc. at 17 percent, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. at 6 percent and both Siemens and Sony Ericsson at 5 percent.
